LAMPSTRONG FOUNDATION DONATES $5000.00 TO MINNESOTA MASONIC CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL
The LampStrong Foundation is proud to announce that it has donated $5000.00 to the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital’s University of Minnesota Foundation. This funding is earmarked as seed towards programming directed at the frequently forgotten demographic of children’s hospitals…the adolescent and young adult cancer patient. Matt well understands the serious health and emotional pain endured by these individuals during a typically challenging life transition. That is part of what the LampStrong Foundation is all about.
The University of Minnesota Foundation will use this initial funding to kick start social programming focused on
the adolescent and young adult cancer patient. The goal is to create opportunities for patients to connect, feel less isolated, and provide shared emotional support. This will be accomplished through both out of hospital and in hospital events. It is the Foundation’s hope that a certified child life specialist facilitates some of these events, and that the events provide social, therapeutic or educational opportunities for this special patient population.
Matt’s current team, the LA Galaxy, will meet his old team, MNUFC, at Allianz Field on April 24, 2019. The showdown is scheduled to take place at 19:00 CT. There could not be a better opportunity to celebrate this donation than with a reunion of all the old Minnesota LampStrong heroes at Allianz Field on this occasion.
